As part of our demolition services, we also take responsibility for the following:

Commercial Demolition Dangers

Unlike residential demolition, commercial demolition can pose many more risks and dangers. Due to the scale of most commercial demo projects and the nature of commercial construction, some of the most common risks to look out for include:

  • Lead – Older commercial buildings may still have lead paint or remnants of it used on exposed surfaces like walls or ceilings. When airborne, lead is extremely hazardous to your health.
  • Asbestos – An often overlooked danger, asbestos in roofs and other parts of commercial buildings can be incredibly harmful and toxic.

As an experienced demolition company, our contractors can deal with any risk or danger posed by commercial demolition in a professional, safety-conscious manner. Considering the possible risks of DIY commercial demolition is one of the main reasons most commercial property owners prefer to make use of professional commercial demolition contractors.

What To Look For in a Demolition Demolition Contractor

Finding the right commercial demolition contractor to work with is vital to ensuring the safety, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness of your demolition project. By working with an experienced commercial demolition company, you can enjoy numerous benefits, including:

  • Prioritizing safety – Commercial demolition comes with numerous risks and dangers. A professional contractor helps you mitigate those risks thanks to years of experience and training in the field.
  • Protecting against environmental hazards and pollutants – The demolition process can damage the environment and release pollutants like dust when not carried out properly. A good demolition contractor should take the necessary measures to minimize the pollution and harm caused by demolition by spraying for dust, recycling materials, and ensuring debris is properly collected and disposed of.
  • Following all local laws and regulations – Different neighborhoods and regions have different rules and regulations when it comes to commercial demolition. Abiding by these laws is vital to ensuring the demolition process is completed quickly and smoothly.
  • Protecting the rest of your property – Demolition contractors understand the importance of containing the damage caused by demolition to the areas being worked on. Without a skilled contractor, you run the risk of damaging other parts of your property during the process.
  • Acquiring the necessary permits and paperwork – Several permits are required for commercial demolitions and utility capping. Proceeding without the right documentation can result in fines and penalties. By working with an experienced demolition company you can avoid these unexpected delays and expenses.
  • Using modern equipment to complete the job efficiently – Making use of well-kept, appropriate equipment allows a good contractor to demolish a commercial property safely and efficiently.

Unfortunately, not all demolition contractors are cut from the same cloth when it comes to providing quality service and safety. When choosing the right commercial demolition company to work with, there are a few things to look out for:

  • A proven track record – Any good contractor should have contactable references that give honest, positive reviews of their experience working with said contractor before, during, and after the demolition process.
  • Transparent pricing Commercial demolition costs are sometimes tricky to predict. Despite this, a good contractor should provide you with a detailed estimate as well as a reasonable estimate of what any unexpected extras might cost.
  • Using well-looked-after, quality equipment and tools – Any good commercial demolition contractor should have the right tools for the job.

Interior commercial demolition usually costs less than demolishing the entire building structure itself and can be anywhere from $1,000 to $15,000.

What is the difference between commercial and residential demolition?

Besides the type of buildings these terms apply to, commercial demolition is often more complicated, time-consuming, and stringently regulated than residential demolition. Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Daniel and his crew were great to work with from start to finish. Daniel was super responsive and quickly worked us into his schedule. We needed someone to demo a few stucco walls in our yard. His team quickly executed the job and were thoughtful throughout the whole process ensuring we were satisfied customers. They also made sure to clean up every day, which was great, since we have 2 small kids. The added bonus, Daniel referred us to an awesome fence company who is currently installing a new one for us!

Despite calling late on Friday, Daniel returned my call the same day and made an appointment to give an estimate Monday morning. I had a rock and concrete water feature built against the house that had to be removed. He looked the job over, described his approach, identified possible problem areas, discussed options, and we set Wednesday as our start date. Daniel and the team arrived on time and went right to it. They jack hammered away until the structure was down and hauled away all the debris. They spared choice rocks at my request and relocated them to my planter for me (not an easy task considering the size and weight of these rocks). Then they raked and leveled the dirt where the fountain was, covered the exposed siding in plastic, and swept the area clean. I'm very pleased with the result, will call Shoemaker again for future demo jobs, and highly recommend them for your demolition projects

Shoemaker Demolition and the team were amazing. They scheduled the job quickly and were on time the day of the work. They took down a large shed/chicken coop and did a great job. They got right to work and before I knew it, the shed/coop was gone. They left the area clean and were fast at getting the job done. Daniel and grew were professional and I am looking to hire them again for a different demo job. Definitely recommend Shoemaker Demolition to anyone who needs some demo work done.
